About iMTQA

Founded in 2017, the International Medical Tai Chi Qigong Association (iMTQA) is the premier international professional organization based in the USA for Medical Tai Chi and Qigong mind-body professionals.

Tai Chi and Qigong (TQ) are increasing in popularity in Western countries, such as Australia, UK, the USA, and in Europe. Several studies have demonstrated the health and well-being benefits that Tai Chi/Qigong can offer. However, at present, there is no regulating body to establish Instructors’ qualifications. Therefore, despite the health benefits that Tai Chi/Qigong may provide, it is difficult for health professionals to confidently refer patients to a qualified, safe and credible instructor.  The International Medical Tai Chi and Qigong Association (iMTQA) seeks to fill this gap as the international professional body accrediting and registering Medical Tai Chi Qigong Instructors.

Our Vision

To assure the safety and well-being of the public and to have access to safe, ethical and evidence-informed Tai Chi and Qigong mind-body medicine by establishing and promoting international levels of accreditation standards. Medical Tai Chi and Qigong provided by the iMTQA-credentialed practitioners will be integral to modern healthcare.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote Tai Chi and Qigong mind-body medicine for health and well-being and support iMTQA professional members.

Objects and Purpose

The purpose of the iMTQA is to promote health and well-being within the community and ensure the safety of the general public by:
